A Weekend of Big Events

I had a huge weekend full of ups and downs. Luckily, most things were ups.

What was the biggest thing? Well…

I'm blingin'

ERMEHGERD

The BF and I are engaged! He popped the question on Friday night at home, and we celebrated by ourselves with a great pizza at Vault Brewing Co. In Yardley, PA. If you go, get the brown sugar buffalo pizza. It was absolutely delicious.

Afterwards, we celebrated with our friends at their house. Thanks for having us over, guys! :)

Though, hah, I can’t call him the BF anymore! I’ll refer to him as DG here for my normal nickname for him, Deaf Guy.

Saturday

Saturday was a little crazy. Okay, a lot crazy, really. We went to the PA Dutch Farmers Market in Princeton, NJ for a late lunch and some shopping. DG and I got a ton of delicious things, like 3 types of bacon, turkey jerky, hot chocolate mix, and some other fun things. I stopped myself from getting a shoofly pie because I just don’t need to eat that stuff right now. For lunch, we split a roast ox sandwich. I’d never had ox before, and it was pretty beefy, but different. I’d definitely get it again.

Unfortunately, driving back home from the farmer’s market was a little too eventful.

Poor Angel.

Poor Angel. :(

Yes, that is what you think it is. We were on a country road (like 35 MPH) and I looked down at my phone to change the song on the stereo (I was in the passenger seat) and then all the sudden–

BOOM

I look up and I’m covered in glass and DG is freaking out, pulling the car over to the side of the road and stopping. My face hurts and I’m confused and shaken because I don’t know what the hell just happened.

Apparently some asshole deer decided to cross the road into our car. DG says he was as tall as the car, with big antlers. The front of him hit above the wheel well, and I guess his butt attacked my door. The crazy thing is, I never actually saw it. The damn deer actually walked away from it. A nice older guy saw it happen and pulled over to make sure we were okay. We were fine and unhurt, just really shaken. I got sprayed with glass when it happened and I have a small cut on my cheek and another on my hand, but that’s nothing compared to if this were really, really bad.

The car is actually remarkably okay too. The piece above the wheel is crushed, but it’s not affecting the wheel at all. It’s dented in about 5″, but comparing it to the left side of the car, there’s about 6″ of open space before the wheel stuff starts. The hood opens and closes fine and nothing looks out of place. Hell, even the electric mirror adjustment on my door still works. The door won’t open and the window’s smashed, but the car drives and we got home with no problem. I cut some strong clear plastic from some bedding bags we had from pillow purchases and we taped it up.

DG called the insurance company on Saturday night to get the whole thing started. Unfortunately the accident happened at about 2:05pm, and the body shop of the Toyota dealership closed at 2pm. Go freaking figure. But like I said, the car drives and we’ll be able to get the ball rolling on everything on Monday.

Sunday

We were going to stay home, but of course, I realize that the ring is a smidgen too small, and we want to go get it resized. The day ended up being yet another “hang out in New Hope/Lambertville” day and we ran the errands we needed too. We needed to kill some time waiting for the ring, so we went to Rojo’s Roastery on the Lambertville side for coffee and tea. We also tried a pecan shortbread thing they had… It was so delicious and I could’ve eaten 5. The white tea I got was very good as well.

And since we just couldn’t help but go more places, we stopped at a Marshall’s on the way back home because I am severely lacking in client visit clothes (and I’m going on a client visit today). I hit the jackpot and got a French Connection sweaterdress, a MICHAEL Michael Kors top, and a sweet purple and black peacoat for $79. I’m allergic to wool and the coat is acrylic, so I am stoked to finally have one. And a coat that fits in general, because most of mine are massive on me.

And that was my weekend: high highs and a really crazy low.

Nothing I can’t deal with, though. Just hopefully this week will be a little bit easier than last!

  1. This is an engagement weekend you guys will never forget all of the details about!!!
Thank God you were focused on changing the song, and were therefore totally
relaxed. Had you seen Mr Deer, you would have tensed up and perhaps be more hurt than
    from the shattered glass, yeah?
This is precisely why I totally no longer enjoy night driving at all. I am hypervigilant about
hitting an animal, so I’m forced to drive the way the law dictates: by paying attention.
